Application of TD240K Ceramic Particle Adhesive in Coal Mill Chutes and Discharge Outlets

2026-07-22

During the operation of pulverizing systems in coal-fired power generation and coal chemical industries, the coal mill chutes and discharge outlets are core components for material conveying, and also the areas most susceptible to severe wear and highest failure rates. Subjected to high-speed impact of raw coal particles, continuous friction and scouring, combined with the complex structural features such as the chute's curved profile, corner dead zones, and reserved weld bevels, these components operate under long-term, high-intensity wear and mild corrosion conditions. Prolonged operation leads to substrate thinning, coal dust leakage, and equipment perforation, which not only increase routine maintenance frequency and operational costs but also frequently cause unplanned unit outages, severely constraining the long-term stable operation of the pulverizing system. To address the persistent wear challenges at coal mill chutes and discharge outlets, Titan-Shield TD240K Ceramic Particle Adhesive, with its tailored advantages for specific operating conditions, has been successfully applied in the anti-wear retrofit project for coal mill equipment at Ningxia Coal Industry, delivering significant on-site results.

TD240K Ceramic Particle Adhesive is a room-temperature curing wear-resistant and anti-corrosion composite coating specially developed for high-wear conditions in mining and industrial applications. It is mainly refined from epoxy resin, polyamide curing agent, and high-hardness ceramic particles. The product features a scientifically formulated and stable composition, overcoming the limitations of traditional hard ceramic tiles. It offers advantages including fast room-temperature curing, strong construction adaptability, high cured hardness, and excellent dual performance in both wear resistance and corrosion protection. As an upgraded core material replacing ceramic tile linings, it is particularly suitable for anti-wear and anti-corrosion construction on irregular and non-standard equipment such as coal mill chutes and discharge outlets. Additionally, it enables rapid emergency repair and long-term protection for areas suffering from equipment wear, localized thinning, and ceramic tile detachment voids.

Compared with ceramic tile anti-wear processes, TD240K Ceramic Particle Adhesive offers outstanding core application advantages:

1. Flexible construction without limitations: It is not restricted by complex structures such as irregular curved surfaces, corner dead zones, or reserved welding positions. It can be integrally troweled to form a seamless coating that perfectly conforms to the substrate surface, completely eliminating the risk of protection gaps caused by traditional tile detachment, and providing excellent overall structural protection.

2. High construction efficiency: With fast room-temperature curing and no need for high-temperature auxiliary equipment, it effectively shortens equipment maintenance downtime and reduces shutdown losses.

3. Long-lasting protection: The cured coating is dense, hard, and exhibits extremely strong adhesion, with excellent resistance to scouring, friction, and corrosion, capable of withstanding long-term high-intensity impact wear from raw coal.

4. Broad applicability: It can be widely used in localized anti-wear and anti-corrosion construction on various equipment in industries including power, steel, cement, mining, and port machinery.

In the specialized anti-wear retrofit project for coal mills at Ningxia Coal Industry, Titan-Shield Technology implemented TD240K Ceramic Particle Adhesive integral trowel coating protection across a full range of high-wear points, including the A/B inlet chutes, reserved welding areas, inner surfaces of A/B inlet and outlet liners, discharge outlets of primary and secondary drum screens, and coal feeder discharge outlets. The entire construction strictly followed standardized processes: thorough substrate grinding and rust removal, degreasing and dust cleaning to ensure coating adhesion, with additional thickness applied to core scouring areas and irregular corner positions to guarantee a uniform, dense protective layer free of missed coating and voids.

Results & Verification

The equipment in this project has now been operating stably for over 100 days. On‑site tracking and inspection results show that all protected areas remain fully intact—with no coating detachment, no abrasive wear, no corrosion or aging. The protective layer and its structural integrity are well preserved.

Compared with traditional protection methods, TD240K Ceramic Particle Adhesive has completely resolved the long‑standing pain points of rapid wear and frequent rework on coal mill chutes and discharge outlets. It significantly enhances the equipment's resistance to abrasion and corrosion, effectively prolongs the service life of both the equipment and its lining components, and markedly reduces maintenance costs and downtime losses.

This successful application at Ningxia Coal Industry fully demonstrates that TD240K Ceramic Particle Adhesive is highly suitable for high‑scouring, irregular, and complex working conditions such as coal mill chutes and discharge outlets. With its convenient application, stable protection, and long service life, it offers a mature and reliable solution for wear‑resistant retrofitting and quality/efficiency improvement of pulverizing equipment in thermal power plants and coal‑chemical facilities.
